Introducing The Stockport Volleyball Club Lottery
Our most recent club to start their lottery fundraising with The Sports Club Lottery is Stockport Volleyball Club. We are very excited to work with the club and can’t wait to see how they do! We spoke with Adrian, the chairman of the club, to learn a little more about Stockport Volleyball Club and what they do.
Please tell us about Stockport Volleyball Club
Stockport Volleyball Club ‘does exactly as it says on the tin’. We are one of the fastest growing volleyball clubs within the UK. We cater for everyone from beginners to elite in the sport irrespective of age, gender, ethnicity or ability.
Where do you see the future of the club?
The future is rosy for the club. Covid 19 and the pandemic has been challenging, but our membership has been understanding and loyal. We have ambitious targets and expectations from our Coaches and Teams including a desire for our elite Men to compete towards the Super League; a competent display by our elite Women in their inaugural season in the National Volleyball League; and competitiveness from our Young People in National Cups and the Greater Manchester Volleyball Association.
How will a lottery help Stockport Volleyball Club?
In light of coronavirus and cessation of all volleyball activities during National Lockdown, it is imperative that we look towards additional income streams to maintain a sustainable existence.
What are your fundraising goals?
All Lottery monies raised in the initial period of this Lottery will go towards our #go2volleyball campaign. This is a benevolent campaign, that when we are permitted – and the requisite donations received – will fund some deserving young people to be taken on a trip abroad to play volleyball. All flights, accommodation and subsistence are intended to be covered for the beneficiaries. This gesture will be appreciated as within our community there is deprivation and removal of volleyball from some will have had a detrimental effect to mental health, well being and social interaction. We are one huge family committed to supporting existing and new members in their lives.
